I love storytelling in all its forms, print, spoken, and visual, and that includes video games. I believe that some video games have transcended the graphics and storytelling aspect in which we consume their narratives, and I thoroughly enjoy them. Of course, I am not saying that all video games are quality storytelling or captivating. Still, there has been an abundance of games that not only try to deliver stunning graphics and gameplay but also a good quality story behind it to keep audiences entertained.
Here are some games that I am waiting for with bated breath.
5. SKULL & BONES by Ubisoft

Pirates.
Need I say nothing more? I love all things pirate and seafaring, so when this game was announced, I was excited. A long-time fan of Assassins Creed, Black Flag remains my favorite installment of the franchise because of its naval missions and pirating ways.
This game was initially supposed to be released last year but was delayed to sometime this year. I can not wait to get my hands on it and set out to sea once again.
4. STAR WARS JEDI : FALLEN ORDER
by EA

This installment to the Star Wars franchise has me excited. My husband and I used to play Knights of the Old Republic, and I loved that story.
There’s not much to say about this installment except that it takes place after Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and its told through third-person narrative. It’s expected to drop later this year, and there is no cover art of the game yet to post, but that could change on April 13 as they are going to give a first look into it at Celebration Chicago. As of right now, I am very excited to see where they take this game, but that can all change once that first look drops.
3. THE OUTER WORLD by Obsidian

The same people who made Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords and Fallout: New Vegas, two of my favorite games, developed this space adventure.
The trailer was the right dose of adventure and fun, and I can not wait to go to space in this story-driven narrative of factions and play that reacts to the choices you make.
2. THE LAST OF US PART 2 by Sony

There’s not much about this game I can say that hasn’t already been said before. The first one wrenched my heart out with the final decision that Joel took.
TLOU2 trailer shows that this takes place five years after the first one (it’s been six years since one was released), and we get to play as Ellie now. There is no set release date, just the tease that it will come out sometime this year.
1. CYBERPUNK 2077 by CD Projekt

The same studio that made The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (one of the most beautiful and expansive open-world games that I have played ) made this sci-fi open world game.
The 48-minute gameplay video was dropped last year in August, and I can not stop gushing about how much I love what this game showcases. Sci-Fi has been and will always be one of my all-time favorite genes for anything, and the game seems to be giving me everything I’ve yearned for. I can not wait to get my hands on this and go to Night City.
Do you play video games? Have you played any of the ones I mentioned? Are there any games you’re waiting for?
